What should Christians do when the Church or its members behave as if we have it all figured out?  This interactive study will challenge participants to identify complacency in their faith lives and ask, “Is this really good enough?”  It will be led by Jeff Morgan, who is a professor of mathematics at the University of Houston.  The Velvet Elvis book is available for $10.50

When you hear the phrase “The Passion of Christ,” what comes to mind?  In this Lenten Study, we will explore in detail the last week of the life of Jesus and consider: What was Jesus passionate about and how did that first passion lead to the final one?  This interactive study is based and the Gospel of Mark.  It will be led by Karen Dees and William Linden, author of The Historical Jesus For Beginners. The Last Week book is available for $3.50.

“Welcoming Congregations” are a select group of United Methodist congregations nationwide that meets criteria including embracing newcomers and providing opportunities in discipleship.

For the past 8 years, “Open hearts, Open minds, Open doors” has been the theme of the denomination supported with a series of national cable TV advertising, supplemented by regional and local church participation. The overall aim of the effort was to invite people, to enter into connection with the Christian community as they seek meaning and purpose in their lives.

Ladies pack your bags and prepare for a relaxing get away!  Our Sea Side Escape brings home the role of the Bible in daily life and leads to a closer relationship with Jesus and stronger Christian friendships.

This year we will go to Bolivar Peninsula.  The houses we are renting are just 6 miles from the ferry: one has an elevator.  Come for the whole weekend or for a few days.  For more information contact Kathy Gilbert or call her at 713-686-4328.

At 6:30 a.m., plied with kolaches and coffee (and hot tea for the more refined), Men’s Breakfast meets in the Conference Room.

Pastor Allison Cambre will provide a lead in on the topic “Faith and the Politics of Isolation.”  To prepare, read the book of Jonah and 1 Kings 19:1-18.
